One of the most important pieces of news dates from the very start of the year: in January, NP Plastics named Rob Smit as its new general manager. With over 30 years of experience in the plastics industry under his belt, Rob brings technical expertise, industry knowhow and a can-do attitude to the company. An excellent fit with NP Plastics, his appointment marks the next step in NP Plastics’ strategy to drive the further growth of the business.
The coronavirus pandemic has also impacted NP Plastics in various ways. Rigorous measures have been put in place to protect our employees and to keep everyone safe. We have kept our production running, working with a skeleton crew in order to be able to continue to supply our customers. The situation has also uncovered opportunities to explore the development of new products as well as for a more intensive marketing approach regarding both our own horticultural products and the technical products produced on behalf of third parties.
In the future, a new collaboration in which Rob will work closely with a plastics industrial design engineer will lead to novel and redesigned products and technical parts.
At the beginning of 2020, NP Plastics also invested the modernization of its production machinery with the purchase of a 28-ton injection moulding machine and 180-ton 2K plastics injection press. Both machines are equipped with an integrated robot for fully automated production.
We’ll keep you up to date on the developments at NP Plastics via social media and per email.
